Brady gets the ball rolling

Paul Brady got the ball rolling - literally - at the World Handball Championships this evening (Thurday) when he routed Pittsburgh's David Fink in the opening game of a special Ireland v USA exhibition series, writes Paul Fitzpatrick at CityWest. In front of around 1,000 spectators - or about a third of the capacity which will pack the stands for the Open matches this week - Brady served a succession of rockets, mainly to Fink's stronger left, en route to a 21-5 win. "The court is nice and the ball is fast so I'm happy enough, I didn't want to do too much," said Brady afterwards. "I had a little bit of trouble seeing the ball in the glass on the left sidewall but it's a matter of getting used to it." Games continue tonight and all week.
