New charity shop opened
Volunteers urgently needed for Manna the new charity shop opened on the Cavan Road. If you can spare a few hours a week there are positions vacant in the shop and working in the Stockroom. The shop will accept Bric-a-Brac, Soft Furnishings, Furniture, Pictures, Bedlinen, Jewellery, Footwear, Clothes in good condition and cleaned and pressed please. Death of Margaret Daly
The community were greatly shocked and saddened by the sudden death of Margaret Daly, Correagh on 8th September at Cavan General Hospital. Margaret was a nurse all her life and was always on hand to help a neighbour at times of illness. She was a devoted mother to her 9 children and the family settled in Virginia in 1974. Nursing was her passion and she regularly offered her skills as a nurse with the regular Pilgrimage to Lourdes. To relax and unwind she loved books and was an avid reader. The large turnout who came to pay their respects at her removal and funeral bore testament to the high esteem Margaret was held in. Guards of honour were formed by Lurgan Ladies GFC, Fianna Fail and her nursing colleagues. Margaret is survived by her husband Tony, daughters Catherine, Geraldine, Bernadette, Rachel and Victoria, Sons David, Stephen, Garrett and Emmet. Sons in law, Daughter in law, Grandchildren and great Grandchild, brothers, sisters, Aunts, Nieces, Nephews and extended family. She will be greatly missed by her neighbours, friends and work colleagues. Her mother Maggie passed away in April this year. Removal and Funeral took place on Monday 10th September in St. Patrick's Church, Lurgan officiated over by her nephew Fr Lochlin Carolan, Fr. Dermot Prior, Fr. Michael Router, Fr. Tom McKiernan, Fr. Hugh Lee, Fr. Frank Kellegher and Fr Sean Mc Dermott. May she rest in Peace.
Death of Desmond Robert Roe
The death occurred on Tuesday 27th August of Desmond Robert Roe, Farmer, Curraghkeel, in Cavan General Hospital. He had been in failing health for some time. Deepest Sympathy is extended to his wife Jean and his Daughter's Veronica, Margaret, Elizabeth, Son's John, William and Arthur, and his two Sister's Jean Henry Munterconnaught, Knocknaveigh and June Hartley Kilmore. Desmond was a parishioner of Ballyjamesduff Parish Church of Ireland, and a life long Member of the Vestry there. His last wish was to be buried beside his Brother Ernie in Virginia Church grounds. The funeral took place in Virginia Church which was well attended. His funeral was led by Rev'd Craig Mc'Cauley and Rev'd Tanya Woods.

Rolls Royce enthusiasts club
The Ireland Section of the Rolls Royce Enthusiasts Club met at the Park Hotel on Sunday last. They and their magnificent vehicles were a wonderful sight and evoked fond memories of bygone days. They were the vehicle of the rich back in the days when fuel economy was not a concern.
Lurgan Foroige club
Meetings resume on Friday 21st September at 8.30 to 10pm in Virginia College. New Members welcome however numbers are limited.
Internet Safety
Bailieborough Community Training has announced the introduction of two new two hour workshops called Internet-Wise Parent and Internet-Wise Kids. These workshops are designed to introduce parents and kids to the risks associated with kids browsing the internet and in signing up for social networking sites e.g. Bebo, MySpace and Facebook. Also covered are topics such as the risks associated with searching, those annoying and possibly harmful pop-up windows that appear on your screen, and keeping your personal details private! The Internet-Wise Parent workshop takes place between 7-9pm, Friday 21st September and costs §35. The Internet-Wise Kids workshop takes place between 4-6pm, Monday 24th September and costs §15. Lurgan underage GFC
Lurgan Minors continue their winning ways in the Championship having recorded a fine victory over neighbours Cuchulainns in Virginia on Wednesday evening last. After a thrilling game with some very fine individual performances, Lurgan emerged victorious on a scoreline of 2-18 to 1-13. They have booked a place in the Semi-final against Ballinagh, best of luck to all.

Training continues every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm.
U-8's and U-10's
Lurgan U-8's and U-10's are travelling to St. Michaels, Carlanstown Kells next Saturday morning (22nd) to play two games. Players are asked to meet at the Ramor Grounds at 10.15am. Parents will be needed to provide transport to and from the games please. Also, could all Thousandaire tickets be returned as soon as possible please.
Who wants to be a thousandaire
The Lurgan Club are proud to present the ever popular show "Who wants to be a Thousandaire?". In the Riverfront Hotel on Friday night, September 28th at 9pm. Aromatherapy and Massage
This full day workshop will introduce participants to the uses and benefits of aromatherapy and massage, safety guidelines, hand, face, back, neck and shoulder massage with aromatic oils and which oils to use. New Montessori school
A new Montessori School will be opening in Munterconnaught on the 17th September. Its called First Steps Montessori School Times: 9.30- 12.30, children aged: 2 and 10months-5 years. It will be run by a fully qualified Montessori and Childcare Teacher with years of experience working with children. The school is fully insured and Health Board notified. Bailieborough Arts and Cultural Centre at the wesleyan chapel are currently offering a number of exciting classes for both Kids and Adults. For Kids we will have a host of activities including Art, Craft and Design, Ballet, Hip hop and Contemporary Dance, Speech and Drama, Teenage Drama, Vocal Performance/ Singing and Guitar. Classes start this week and new members are always welcome, so don't disappoint those little faces! Leaving Cert students can once again take part in Art Portfolio preparation classes. These mentoring workshops are for students preparing portfolios for 3rd level college. This course will prepare students for the structure and content required when applying for all third level institutions in 2008 and guide students in the leap from school work to college criteria and a career in visual arts practice. Professional tutor Niamh Smyth is a NCAD, AIDT and UL graduate in visual and performance art. Numbers are limited so that each student can receive the attention they require. This year's programme for adults has been extended to include a number of family learning courses, interior design, gourmet cookery, Spanish, Irish for beginners, tango and digital photography. Other new additions include Pilates and Angels in your life. Also at Bailieborough Arts and Cultural Centre, in association with Cavan VEC, we are now delighted to offer our new Family Support Learning Programme. This programme includes Basic Information Technology, General Communications and IT, ESOL-English for speakers of other languages, Consumer Awareness, Personal Development, Financial Literacy, Exploring English, Computer Applications and Literacy and Computers.
Attention all aspiring actors and actresses!
If you fancy yourself as the next Colin Farrell or Angelina Jolie, then listen up! Bailieborough Arts and Cultural Centre at the wesleyan chapel have yet another exciting class for September. Teenage Drama will begin in late September and is open to boys and girls aged 13yrs. Classes are designed to stimulate creativity and develop confidence in performance ability through group workshops, improvisation, vocal exercises, scene studies and much more. Our professional tutor has trained with the Gaeity School of Acting, Bull Alley Theatre Training Company and performed onstage with the Rathmines and Rathgar Musical Society. Classes begin on Wednesday 19th September.

Starting soon, adult classes at The Bailieborough Arts and Cultural Centre at the wesleyan chapel will include lessons in "Two Hand" Irish Dancing e.g. Barn Dance, Highland Fling, The Peeler& the Goat, Gay Gordons, Schottische, etc.
