Three Cavan gymnasts to take part in World Championships - Cavan News Items
THREE members of the Millennium School of Gymnastics will travel to Quebec City to take part in the 25th World Championship in Tumbling. Michaella Jannink, Gillian Clarke and Jack Allen have been chosen to represent Ireland.
Jack and Gillian are both Irish Junior Champions and Michaella and Gillian have taken international medals in Portugal, England, Belgium, Bulgaria and Wales this season. The girls will compete in the under-14 and Jack in the under-12 categories.
They are not the first Millennium gymnasts to compete at this level as Rachel Kiernan finished 12th at this event in 2005. Jenny Ryan who trains full time in the club will also take part in the event.
The team is now completing their final preparations before embarking on this exciting campaign. The gymnasts will travel to England, to the Lilleshall National Centre for intensive competition training before travelling to Canada.

Raised €2,800
BAG-PACKERS from Kilmore Cathedral and Ballintemple Parishes would like to thank all those who supported them on Saturday, October 27 in their efforts for the diocese of Tabora in Tanzania. A total of §2,800 was raised and will be sent to Africa for relief work. This will be supplemented by whatever is raised at the pre-Christmas concert given by Cantilena (from Armagh) in the Cathedral on Friday, December 21 at 8 p.m. On Sunday, November 11 there will be a Remembrance-tide Service in the Cathedral at 11.30 a.m.
Renewal Weekend
A Renewal weekend takes place in the Pastoral Centre, Saint Patrick's College from Friday, November 23 to Sunday, November 25. The Spiritual Director will be Father Ronnie Mitchell SMM and booking is essential as places are limited. For further information contact (087) 822 8097.
Cavan United GAFC
THE team travelled to Malahide to take on Seaview Celtic on Saturday last in the first round of the Leinster Shield and came away with a 3 nil win with goals from Brian Mitchell, Paul Flynn and Gordon Clarke. On Sunday, November 4 the ladies played Kiloushternan FC (Carlow) in the first round of the ladies FAI Junior Cup and won on penalties after a two all draw with goals from Collette McCaul and Lisa Mulligan. Important meeting takes place in the Farnham Hotel on Thursday, November 8 at 9 p.m.
Irish Pony Club
THE Cavan and Monaghan Branches of the Irish pony Club celebrate their 30th anniversary with an evening in the Four Seasons Hotel, Monaghan, on Saturday, November 10 at 9 p.m. Admission is §15 and supper will be served. A photographic display of events and camp days in Farnham Estate has been arranged. Parents, officers and members both past and present are all invited.

TO celebrate the 400th anniversary of Cavan Royal School there will be a launch of a book entitled "The 1608 Royal Schools" in the Johnston Library, Farnham Street, on Thursday, November 15 at 8 p.m. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Jonathan Cheery and all are welcome.
