New purpose-built funeral home
Work is currently underway on a new purpose built funeral home in Ballybay.
This innovative facility is the brainchild of local undertaker Padraig Ward of Wards Funeral Directors and is the first of its kind in Co. Monaghan.
When completed the building will house two family viewing rooms, a coffin showroom, kitchen facilities, toilets and a comfortable and spacious foyer for family, relatives and friends.
The building will also accommodate a double garage and there will be parking spaces for twenty five cars including disabled parking areas.
Padraig was prompted to undertake this venture in an effort to alleviate some of the worry and concerns faced by people when someone dies in their family.
With his new funeral home family, relatives and friends can be assured that everthing will be taken care of under the one roof and that they can remain with their loved ones in quiet and peaceful surroundings.
Ward's Funeral Directors have been in business since 1977 when Padraig's late father Jim was in charge.
Following his father's untimely death in 2001 Padraig took over the running of the business.
Padraig hopes that the funeral home will be completed early next year and more details will be available nearer the time.
