Minister opens new recycling centre in Ballyconnell

THE Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government, John Gormley, TD, officially opened the new §700,000 Ballyconnell Recycling Centre at Clontygrigney beside Fartrim Cross on Monday afternoon.

  Minister Gormley also announced that he had approved the funding for Cavan County Council to accept the §4m tender of SIAC Construction Ltd to extend the Ballyjamesduff Regional Water Supply Scheme to Ballinagh.

 The scheme was being undertaken as part of the Minister's Water Services Investment Programme 2007 - 2009.

  It was his first visit to the county in his capacity as Minister and he took the opportunity to visit a number of projects in Cavan town, Belturbet, Ballyconnell and Ballinagh.

  Speaking exclusively to the Anglo Celt on Monday in Ballyconnell the Minister said his department would be investing over §100 million in water and waste projects in the county over the next five years.
