Confirmation in Kilmore and Ballintemple
The Bishop of Kilmore Most Rev. Leo O'Reilly administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to more than forty children from the parish of Kilmore and Ballintemple in St. Felim's Church on Saturday last.
In glorious weather, the church was filled to capacity as parents, family members, relatives and large numbers of people from both parishes attended the ceremony.
Bishop O'Reilly was chief celebrant of the concelebrated Mass with concelebrants Fr. Peter Casey, PP, Kilmore; Fr. Peter McPartlan, PP Ballintemple and Fr. Loughlin Carolan, CC Bruskey. The choir was in the very capable hands of Mrs. Kathleen McCabe NT.
Defeat in Mullingar
A contingent of local Gaels made the journey in bitterly cold conditions to Cusack Park, Mullingar on Sunday last for the meeting of Cavan and Westmeath in the National Football League.
The opening half saw the sides evenly matched but in the second half Westmeath dominated, adding five points to their interval tally, while the Breffni men raised one white flag in the second-half, to leave the home county victorious.
Visit of Daniel O'Donnell
On Monday next, April 14th hundreds of enthusiastic Daniel O'Donnell fans from all four provinces, as well as from overseas will arrive in Ballinagh for the annual concert in aid of Cavan Branch of Cystic Fibrosis, featuring Daniel O'Donnell and his band. Patrons are advised to arrive early at the community centre in order to secure your seat. The master of ceremonies will once again be Mel Doherty.
Weather
Following the mild spell of the previous week, weather conditions took a sharp turn into a more severe spell at the weekend, with bitterly cold winds, snow, sleet and hailstones making conditions extremely hazardous.
Gospel Service
The Gospel Monthly Service will be held in Ballinagh Mission Church on Sunday next, April 13th at 8pm. Preacher is Garry Tutty and everyone is very welcome.
Computers For Farmers
A six week course starts on Monday next, April 14th in The Realtog Centre, Kilnaleck from 7-9pm with small farmers and spouses welcome. The course is free of charge and accredited. For further information or to book your place, please call the CDP on 049-4336070.
Ladies Mini Marathon
Anyone interested in taking part in the ladies mini marathon due to be held on the June Bank Holiday weekend to raise money in order to bring children who are ill to Lourdes, are asked to please contact Fidelma on 049-4337101.

Foroige
Members and Leaders as part of their Citizenship Programme will have a clean up for one hour on Saturday, 19th April at 2pm. Parents and older members of the families are asked to please accompany the members of Foroige as a supervisor and helper. Everyone is asked to meet at the Community Centre and their designated area will be given. All are welcome from the community to participate in this clean up.
