Mrs. Violet Roundtree
The death occurred on Sunday 20th April of Mrs. Violet Roundtree, (nee Dancey), Gartnaneane, Bailieboro. Violet, who was in her 75th year, died peacefully at Fairlawns Private Nursing Home.
She was from a farming background, which she carried on until illness struck in August 2006.
She was pre-deceased by her husband John and is survived by her sons, James and Robert, daughter, Sandra, brother, David, sisters, Anne and Phyllis, grandson, David and a wide family circle.
There was a large attendance at the funeral on 22nd April, conducted by Reverend Alan Matchett.
Violet was an inspiration and will be sadly missed by her family and friends, but always remembered, as she was, a true and faithful friend.
An Tor ar Lasadh, Belfast
The Presbyterian community in Bailieboro is hosting a group from Belfast in Trinity Church on Sunday 18th May. This Irish-speaking group, An Tor ar Lasadh, will arrive for Service at 4 p.m.
Refreshments and talk afterwards in the hall. You only need a cupla focal to enjoy this event.

First Holy Communion will take place in St. Anne's Chapel on Saturday, May 17th, at 11.30am.
Rosary
The Rosary will be said at the Grotto, on the Virginia Road, every day (except Saturday), at 8pm, for the month of May.

Mini-Marathon
The 12th Annual Bailieborough Mini-Marathon, sponsored by Northern Sound, will take place on Sunday June 8th, at 2.30pm from Market Square. The event is open to people of all ages and there are two routes - a six-mile course and a four-mile one. Refreshments and awards will be presented in the Community Centre. Bailieborough Rehab Care
A fundraising night in aid of Bailieborough Rehab Care, which is now located in the BDA Business Centre, on the Shercock Road, will take place in Fox's Bar and Lounge this Friday, May 16th, at 9.30pm. Entertainment will be varied, with the Groove Jazz Band under the leadership of Michael Gaskin starting off the activities. This will be followed by The Last of the Summer Wine performing their one-act comedy The Wake. There will also be a draw for a weekend away sponsored by Eugene and Edel Fox and lots of other prizes.

Relaghbeg Fundraising Committee
This year a member of the committee, Noel Cooney, is walking from Cork to Bailieboro in aid of Suicide Awareness (Teenline) - Saturday May 24th to Sunday June 1st. There will be at least four committee members with Noel at all times (cars in front and behind). He will walk through Cork, Tipperary, Limerick, Offaly, Laois, Westmeath, Meath and Cavan wearing a football or hurling jersey from each county. The jerseys will be signed by football and hurling heroes. Some hotels have very generously given Noel accommodation for free along the way. Committee members will be going around with sponsorship cards, and rounding off the fundraiser when Noel arrives in Relaghabeg House on June 1st with music by Say La Vie.

Library
Ghosts of the Faithful Departed, a photographic exhibition by David Creedon, has been extended to Wednesday May 21st. Admission is free during Library opening hours and all are welcome.
Bealtaine is a national arts festival celebrating creativity in older age. As part of this, the Library will host three days of art classes with Martin Fullen - May 14th and 21st, 10am-noon. There is no charge but numbers are limited and must be booked in advance at 042 9665779.

Intensive Portfolio Preparation
This course at Bailieborough Arts and Cultural Centre, 10am-3pm daily, 3rd-6th June will prepare students for the structure and content required in a portfolio when applying for all third level colleges. Bailieborough Community Training is running innovative kids computer summer camps in the new Business Centre. These week-long camps are for six-eight year-olds (30th June to 4th July, or 14-18th July) and nine-twelve-year-olds (7-11th July or 21st-25th July), 1.30-3.30pm each day. Computer open day
Bailieborough Community Training is holding an open day on Monday 26th May, from 10am to noon and 7-8 p.m., in the Business Centre just off the Shercock Road, beside the recycling centre and playground.
Training staff will provide information and leaflets relating to the computer courses available. Children are welcome.
