New €100m Cavan town centre will proceed soon

The Chief Executive of P. Elliott & Co., Dave Mackey, confirmed exclusively to The Anglo Celt this week that the futuristic development, which will transform the town, will proceed within the next 12 to 18 months. He said the new town centre 'will most definitely be proceeding and will be a major mixed use development, predominently retail'. It will involve a complete new rebuild of the area, which fronts onto Ashe Street, Farnham Street, Town Hall Street and the Main Street, and incorporates the former Jacksons Garage Showrooms complex. The expansive and creatively designed town centre will also incorporate a Civic Centre and a plaza feature. 'It will really transform Cavan Town,' said Mr. Mackey. County Cavan has a population of 64,000 with 30,000 living within a ten mile radius of Cavan Town. Cavan Town has been the focus of much development in recent years, with a record number of homes built within a five mile radius of the town, resulting in a big influx of business in recent years. Cavan was also designated as a Hub Town in the National Spatial Strategy. Mr. Mackey told The Anglo Celt that has always been the aim of the P. Elliott company to be in the top 1,000 companies in Ireland and this year they have taken a giant leap forward and are now in the top 100. 'We are now the 92nd largest company in Ireland, as duly recognised by Business and Finance.' Century Business P. Elliott & Company are also illustrating their confidence in the future of Cavan town, by creating the new expansive Century Business Park, just behind the company"s head office, just off the Main Dublin Road, behind the Top Service Station and Open Garage. The warehouse and distribution units, which have already been put in place in the Park are attracting a lot of interest. A number of units have already been snapped up by McIntyres, Value Centre Cash and Carry and P. Elliott. The units can either be purchased or leased. Dave Mackey, Chief Executive of P. Elliott and Company told The Anglo Celt that when they purchased the old Jobman-Workwear factory site, they also purchased all the Pauwels Trafo land around it. This entire site is now known as the Century Business Park. Mr. Mackey says the addition of the M3 will greatly enhance Cavan"s accessibility and will cut the journey time to Dublin to just 60 minutes. These infrastructural improvements combined with Cavan"s geographical position, mean that Century Business Park is an ideal location for businesses looking for a gateway to all corners of the country.
