Cavan publican calls time on recession

Entrepreneurial Cavan town publican Joey Dunne has turned the doom and gloom of the recession to his advantage with an admirable flair that has caught the attention of the punters. His pub, formerly known as Dunne"s Bar, at Upper Main Street, has now been renamed the RESESHH.INN. The affable Joey explained that he got the inspiration to change the name of his bar when he kept hearing about numerous customers losing their jobs. Joey Dunne told The Anglo Celt that this is his second year in business and his bar is a focal point for racing fans and sports enthusiasts. He also sponsors Cavan Town soccer team and he sponsored the hoodies for Cavan Gaels last year. A pint of Guinness costs just €3.70 in the new RECESHH.INN" and that price will be frozen for a year in keeping with the Vintners Federation decision. Joey also owns a couple of horses and his latest purchase, Kaitlins Joy has won her first three races over the flat. With a laugh he said every racing punter in Cavan town had backed her on each occasion and it drove the bookies into recession for a few days. The father of his horse, Market Esteem, won the 2,000 Guineas a few years ago and was also the father of last year"s Derby winner Sir Percy. He purchased Kaitlins Joy at reasonable money and now he and his customers can ride out the recession on the flat.
