Ramor to stage Marina Carr's Woman and Scarecrow

Cavan audiences are in for a treat as Ramor Theatre prepares to stage Marina Carr"s Woman and Scarecrow presented by Prime Cut Productions on March 20 & 21, starting at 8.30pm. Written by one of Ireland"s leading playwrights, Woman and Scarecrow has been described by the Sunday Tribune as 'a significant play about human frailty and the rituals of death, perhaps the most interesting new Irish play of the past few years.' The play wowed audiences when it was produced by the Abbey Theatre in 2007. Producer, Edel Magill explains the relevance of the work: 'The central character in the play is a woman, a mother of eight and wife of an unfaithful husband, who surveys her life and imagines what could have been as she lies on her death bed. It is full of black humour and brutal honesty, and is a passionate and moving lament for a life half lived. ' The cast features some of Ireland"s finest actors. Gina Moxley is in the lead role of Woman, the talented Kathy Kiera Clarke is Scarecrow, Frank O"Sullivan is Him and Helena Bereen is in the role of Auntie Ah.' Mary Hanley, Theatre Manager, Ramor Theatre, encouraged drama enthusiasts to take advantage of the opportunity to see work of this calibre staged in their own community. 'Ramor Theatre is committed to providing our audiences with access to high quality drama and Marina Carr is widely acknowledged as one of Ireland"s finest playwrights. Her work rarely tours and we are thrilled to be able to bring this production to the Ramor Theatre. Prime Cut Productions is one of Northern Ireland"s leading theatre companies with an unparalleled track record for producing thought-provoking and enjoyable quality theatre. As we only have the performance for two nights I would encourage early booking.'
