Laragh win annual O'Rourke Cup

Laragh Camogie Club recently hosted the annual and always very successful Nancy O"Rourke Tournament. The tournament is named after one of Laragh"s most famous daughters, the afore mentioned late Nancy O"Rourke who was a stalwart within Camoige in Stradone for over 60 years. With teams entered from Ballinagh, Castletara, Denn, Laragh and Redhills, spectators in PJ Duke Park were entertained by great displays of camogie from all teams participating. The rain and sodden conditions by no means distracted from the skills shown on the day eventually resulting in Laragh and Castletara contesting a very tightly fought final with Laragh emerging winners by a point. For 2009 the O"Rourke trophy will be resting in familiar surroundings in the parish of Laragh. Micheal O"Rourke presented the trophy on behalf of the O"Rourke family and commented on the fine display of talent evident on the day.
