Remanded Richard McCullough, 2 Ballinamoney, Bailieboro, was remanded on bail to the sitting of the local District Court on July 3 charged with possessing an imitation firearm at Main Street, Bailieboro. He was charged that on December 21 he brandished the imitation firearm at two members of security staff at the Bailie Hotel and threatened them that he would use the weapon in an attempt to gain entry to the night club. The defendant was also charged with damaging an internal glass panel door and mattress in Bailieboro Garda Station on the same occasion. Probation A Lithuanian national who pleaded guilty to stealing a cheque was given the benefit of the Probation Act by Judge Sean MacBride when he appeared at Bailieboro District Court. Alexander Abramenko (24), 5 Chestnut Drive, Bailieboro, was charged that between December 14 and 16, 2008, at Mortimer Shop Fitting, Galbolie, he stole a cheque the property of Patrick Mortimer. A bench warrant was issued for Vladimir Koriakin, 3 Mountain View, Bailieboro, when he failed to appear on a charge of handling the stolen cheque at Halls, newsagents, at Main Street, Bailieboro, on December 16. In relation to the Abramenko case, Inspector Ray McMahon said the defendant stole the cheque that belonged to Mr. Mortimer. The cheque was made out for €300 but it was recovered before it was cashed. At the time the defendant was under the influence of heroin. He passed the cheque on to another person. Possessed cannabis Neill McKinley, Newcastle, Kilmainhamwood, Kells, was ordered to donate €150 to the Bailieboro Rehab Resource Centre for possessing cannabis with a street value of €5 at KC"s Statoil, Kingscourt, on October 21. Left without paying A man who stayed in a hotel in Kingscourt over night and left without paying the following day has been given until June 19 to pay the bill by Judge Sean MacBride when he appeared at Bailieboro District Court. Scott Grant (39), Church Street, Kingscourt, pleaded guilty to staying in the Dunaree Hotel, Kingscourt, on May 22, and leaving without paying the bill of €80 due to Enda McMahon. Paul Carolan, solicitor defending, said his client had stayed in a B&B for two night previous but could not book in for a third. He booked into the hotel and realised he had not got the money to pay for it. He panicked and left. Judge MacBride said if the defendant wanted the mercy of the court he would have to have the €80 in court on June 19. Community order Tommy Carroll, 37 Mount Saint Joseph, Kingscourt, was ordered to do 80 hours of community service in lieu of two months when he appeared at Bailieboro District Court on a public order offence. He was charged with using or engaging in threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to provoke a breach of the peace at Kwai Garden, Main Street, Kingscourt, on December 27. Tax returns Patrick Reilly, Lecksview, Shinan, Shercock, was fined €1,500 and ordered to pay costs of €121 when convicted of failing to make tax returns for the year 2006 at Bailieboro District Court.
