The Anglo-Celt readership grows
The Anglo-Celt was one of only seven regional newspapers in the country to grow its circulation in the last six months of 2009 - bucking a national trend, which saw regional newspaper sales fall by nine per cent. The Anglo-Celt is now selling more than 13, 300 copies of the newspaper every week, according to independent audited figures published by the Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC) last week. It is the only regional newspaper in Co. Cavan to be independently audited, giving advertisers a guaranteed gauge of circulation and readership. Our weekly readership is now over 46,550 a week; while in February the number of people logging onto our website jumped from an average of 17,000 unique users to more than 20,000 unique users (individual computers or internet connections). Editor Linda O'Reilly said she was delighted with the latest ABC figures. "In a time of recession, and with increased competition in the market and more and more people going online to access news, we are delighted to have recorded an increase from July to December," she said. "This bucks the national trend and I would like to thank all of our loyal readers and advertisers. The Anglo-Celt has been your community newspaper since 1846 and we will continue to endeavour to serve the local community," added Ms. O'Reilly. Meanwhile, advertising sales manager, Yvonne Jackson, said the figures can give advertisers a seal of approval that The Anglo-Celt is the leading newspaper in Co. Cavan. "Our advertisers can be sure that they are getting value for money when they advertise in The Anglo-Celt. As a local business ourselves, we strive to support all local businesses, particularly in the current tough economic times. We have packages to suit businesses big and small," said Ms. Jackson.
