Mr. Crumb is on the pig's back with award

Finea-based food company, Mr. Crumb, has been named the overall winner of the Pigsback.com Irish Enterprise Award 2010. The award was announced at a special reception in Dublin recently, hosted by Pigsback.com in association with Checkout Magazine. Multi-award winning speciality food company, Mr. Crumb scooped the top prize at this year's event beating off stiff competition from a shortlist of finalists representing the cream of Irish entrepreneurial businesses. Based in the small village of Finea on the border of Cavan and Westmeath, Mr. Crumb employs 60 people at its production facility. The company has mastered the skill of volume producing high-quality food, pre-cooked by chefs, using only fresh ingredients. Their products include stuffings, breadcrumbs, dessert puddings and a wide range of party foods. This is the second major win for Mr. Crumb inside the last year. Last year, its organic sage and onion stuffing took a gold medal at the Great Taste Awards, the oscars of the food industry. Commenting on the company's most recent win, Jason Coyle of Mr. Crumb said: "Everyone at Mr. Crumb is delighted to receive this fantastic national recognition and be given the chance to work closely with Pigsback.com, which will open our product range to a broader audience. Mr. Crumb products are well known and trusted by savvy home cooks and mums 'in the know' but our brand has not enough on-shelf recognition with the general public... yet!" As part of their prize, Mr. Crumb will receive an online campaign worth €25,000 on Pigsback.com and a profile feature in Checkout Magazine, Ireland's leading monthly magazine for the FMCG and grocery retail sector in Ireland. Jason Coyle from Mr. Crumb was presented with the award by Michael Dwyer, CEO of Pigsback.com and Louis Copeland, leading menswear retailer. Commenting on the award, Clíodhna Byrne, brand manager of Pigsback.com said: "We were overwhelmed with the huge response to this year's Pigsback.com Irish Enterprise Award and encouraged to see the huge diversity and creativity that exists in Irish businesses and the ongoing drive, determination and energy of the people behind them. We are delighted to collaborate with the Mr. Crumb brand by providing them with this fantastic business opportunity. They are deserving winners and a great Irish success story." The Pigsback.com Irish Enterprise Award 2010 was held at a special reception in Residence, Stephen's Green, Dublin 2, hosted by Pigsback.com in association with Checkout Magazine.
