LaraghUnited’s Strictly not to be missed
Laragh United GAA will be dusting off their tuxedos and ball gowns as they roll out the red carpet this Saturday for the launch of their eagerly anticipated fundraiser Strictly Come Dancing. The idea was the brainchild of Laragh United chairman Padraig Rudden who had seen what a success a similar event was for a Monaghan GAA club. Given the popularity of the television show, it is likely that the Cavan version could cause quite a stir. Laragh have looked beyond their own borders to select well known faces from around the county to take part in the event. They hope this will attract dance fans and friends from every corner of Cavan to join in the craic.Competitors are reportedly putting in considerable practice to fine tune their foxtrots and revolutionise their rumbas under the tutilege of dance choreographer Lynn Jackson and her assistant Leslie. While those with the fanciest footwork will undoubtedly prove crowd pleasers, an Ann Widdecombe or a John Sergeant would prove a lively addition too. On the night couples will be paired off for the dance off finale which takes place next month in The Hotel Kilmore on February 19. The effort put into the production of the show by all of the dancers and the show's producer Charlie Clerkin and driving force Mary O'Rourke ensure that this Strictly Come Dancing event is definitely one for your diary. But first come along to the launch night in The Cross this weekend as the wheels are set in motion for this prestigious event. The contestants and Laragh United would greatly appreciate your support. The launch night kicks off this Saturday, January 15 in Brady's the Cross Lounge Stradone at 9.30pm. Admission is free and all are very welcome.
