Anglo-Celt Rehab Cavan Person of the Year 2010 nominees - Paul Brady

Paul Brady is the most successful Irish handballer of all time. The 31-year-old from Mullahoran, a member of the famed 'Gunner' footballing dynasty, recently qualified as a schoolteacher but still finds time to train and compete at home and abroad with remarkable success. He is the only Irish player to have won the World Open Singles title, a feat he has managed on three successive occasions in Dublin (2003), Edmonton, Canada (2006) and Portland, Oregon (2009). Paul has been Irish and American champion for the last six years and will this year attempt to beat the record in both competitions. In doubles play, the Cavanman has also won a world title and six All Ireland senior titles. Paul is a member of the Kingscourt Handball Club but was introduced to handball in St Patrick's College, Cavan by Fr John Gilhooley. Paul, who also played football with Cavan for nine seasons prior to this year, helps out with coaching some of the juveniles in St Pat's in his spare time.
