Did the rain on Sunday wreck the weekend? Not on your nellie!

It was more high noon than high nellie as a cowboy on his impressive mount got in on the act at the bank holiday weekend's cycle. The cycle taking in Ballyjamesduff, Oldcastle and Virginia in aid of the Attracta Doherty Pink 'n' Gold drew great community support. The scenes of revelry were repeated at events across the county and beyond as Cavanites put aside the worries for an extended weekend of craic. A huge crowd turned out to help Kilnaleck celebrate their hat-trick year in hosting the County Fleadh with Tip fiddler Eileen O'Brien the star attraction. In Killinkere the Saw Doctors prescribed an overdose of raucous tunes to delight the Jamboree crowd. Meanwhile the Flat Lake Festival in Scotshouse (see page 39) boasted bingo, a human zoo, poems galore and strippers. See pages 6 and 7 of The Anglo-Celt for bank holiday photo spread.
