Calling all vintage tractor girls

Women in Cavan are again being asked to shine their vintage tractors for the second annual ladies' vintage tractor run in east Cavan. The run is being held on Saturday, September 3 and funds raised will go to the well-deserved children's charity, the Jack and Jill Foundation. As they did when the very successful run took place last year, the men will shine the teapots and don their aprons to make the sandwiches. The route will take the women around parts of Cross, Kilinkere and Virginia and will start at 2pm from Jenning's Bog on the Bailieboro road. The Jack & Jill Foundation provides care and support for children with severe neurological development issues, as well as offering some respite to the parents and families. This could be through home visits from nurses, with practical tips on how to access the services a child will need; listening to what parents want for their child and making representations on their behalf; bereavement support and an online forum for parents; lobbying the Government and the HSE. "Come along for a great afternoon in beautiful east Cavan," urges one of the driving forces, Tina Tully. "Help raise funds for a very worthy cause and see the women teach the men how tractors should be driven!" The run is being organised by the Windmill Vintage Club and members will be collecting in Virginia on the Friday evening, September 2. Entry fee for the run will be €20 per tractor.
