Mrs Elizabeth Irwin

It is with deep regret that on August 25, Mrs Elizabeth Irwin passed away at her home in Leiter, Bailieborough, (late of Seefin) surrounded by her family in her 100th year after a short illness. She was predeceasd by her husband William Robert Irwin and by her son Billy Irwin. Elizabeth was the eldest of five children of Aaron and Charlotte Ingram and the last surviving as well, born on September 16, 1911. From the age of 11 she took care of her grandmother, Elizabeth Ingram nee Wade, until she passed away in 1929. She went to school in Tunnyfoyle. In 1933 she married William Robert Irwin and was a loving caretaker for her mother-in-law, Catherine Irwin until she passed away in 1936. By this time she had two children of her own, Kathleen and James, followed by Charlotte, Billy, Mary, Sam, Tommy, Herbie, Davey, Ann, Meta and John. Loving grandmother to 33 grand children, 28 great grand children and one great great grandson. Even with caring for her own children, she still cared for mother Charlotte Ingram and a neighbour until they passed away. Taking care of the farm and the home took up much of her time and she was happy to do it. In her later years, her brother Sam came to live with her, until he passed away in 1993. She took much pleasure in visits from her family, as much as distance would allow, children, grand children and great grand children from Ireland, England and the United States.
