It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie

Pat Clarke

Greaghnafarna, Bailieborough, Cavan

Pat Clarke, (known as PG/PJ/JR) died suddenly at his home in Greaghnafarna on Saturday 27th April. Predeceased by his parents John and Mollie.

He was the best friend and love of his wife Sarah's life. He was loved and adored by his children Morgane, Rachel, Seán and Rory and his granddaughter Mollie. Pat will be more than sorely missed by them and their partners Paddy, Carl and Niamh. Deeply mourned by his sister Mary, his brothers-in-law John-Edward and Nick, his uncle James, his nieces Estelle, Miriam and Olivia and his cousins. Fondly remembered by his wide circle of friends.

Reposing at Clarke's Funeral Home, Bailieborough on Thursday 2nd May from 4pm - 8pm. Funeral on Friday morning to arrive at St. Mary's Church, Clanaphilip for Funeral Mass at 11 o'clock. Burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

Tom Gaffney

Butlersbridge, Cavan / Cavan Town, Cavan / Dublin

The death has occurred of Tom (Thomas, Tommy) Gaffney, Rocklands, Cavan and formerly of Butlersbridge, Cavan and Dublin, Monday April 29th, peacefully in the care of the staff at Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Tommy is predeceased by his parents, Pat and Mary Gaffney (Butlersbridge, Cavan).

Tommy's passion was all things mathematical, and he worked most of his career as a Lecturer in Mathematics and Statistics in the school of Mathematical Sciences, DIT, Kevin St. (now TU Dublin City Campus)

Tommy will be very sadly missed by his heartbroken family, brothers John (Roscommon), Paddy (Butlersbridge), Martin (Cavan), sisters in law, his nieces and nephews, Oonagh, Padraic, Liam, Mary, Kevin, Jennifer, David, Justin, Eamon and Martin, great-nephews and great-nieces and all his extended family. Greatly missed and fondly remembered by his fantastic circle of friends.

Reposing at Lakelands Funeral Home and Crematorium, Dublin Road, Cavan, on Wednesday May 1st from 4.00pm with Funeral Service at 6.00pm followed by Cremation

John Martin

Kingscourt, Cavan

The death has occurred of John Martin, Collops, Kingscourt, Co. Cavan, peacefully at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, 28th April, 2024.

John is pre-deceased by his parents Owen & Annie. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Mary, son Brendan, brothers Tommy, Gene & Pat, sisters Sarah Gargan, Kathleen Byrne & Mary Taffee. Sadly missed by his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

John will repose at Kieran Bros. Funeral Home, Kingscourt, (A82R3W2) on Wednesday 1st May, from 5pm to 8pm. Removal on Thursday evening, 2nd May to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Kingscourt arriving for 6pm. Funeral Mass on Friday, 3rd May, at 10am in Church of the Immaculate Conception with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Mary Martin

Dunaree Lane, Kingscourt, Cavan

The death has occurred of Mary Martin, née Carolan, Dunaree Lane, Kingscourt, Co. Cavan, suddenly, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, 26th April, 2024.

Pre-deceased by her father, T.M. Carolan. Deeply regretted by her loving husband Kevin, daughter Carri (Darren), sons Daryl (Caroline) and Conrad (Alison) and her mother Bridie. Sadly missed by her grandchildren Ceejay, Blake, Bobby, and Kaiden, brothers, Thomas Carolan, sisters Paula Lynch and Patricia Farrell. Fondly remembered by her father-in-law Kevin, brothers-in-law, sisters in-law, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. ​​​​​​

Mary will repose at Kieran Bros. Funeral Home, Kingscourt, (A82R3W2) on Tuesday 30th April, from 5pm to 8pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, 1st May, at 10am in Church of the Immaculate Conception with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Teresa Lynch

(née Kelly)

Ardragh,Corduff, Carrickmacross, Monaghan

Peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Following a short illness bravely fought. Predeceased by her parents Mary Kate and John, her sisters Shiela and Kay. Deeply regretted by her loving husband Sean, daughter,Georgina, sons Michael John, Terence and Patrick. Her adored grandchildren James, Grace Luke, Eloise,Hugo and Hanna, son in-law John, daughters in-law Ania and Margaret. Sisters Maura, Mena and Patricia, brother Michael, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Rest in Peace.
