You'll be pleased to meet O'Neill's debut album

While the pool of local musical talent is brimming over, with the exception of the Dublin-based songstress Lisa O'Neill, it has yet to spill onto the national consciousness. Maybe the music industry is prejudiced against bands from beyond the Pale; maybe local artists aren't pushing themselves forward enough on the all important Dublin/Belfast scenes. As the title of Ciaran O'Neill's debut album suggests, he's eager to bring his music to the widest audience possible. With such welcoming songs, and warm distinctive voice, who's not going to strike up a friendship with this instantly likeable album? Dave Fanning on 2fm has already taken a shine to it, playing a few tracks on just one night. Full review in this week's Anglo-Celt.
