Where is Cavan?
What do people think about Cavan? Do people outside the county know much about Cavan? Well, apparently 3690 Mexicans and one Equatorial Guinean do. So found reporter Cormac Coughlan when he set out to establish what is the most googled thing about our county... What comes to mind when people decide to google Cavan? Our produce perhaps or maybe it's that well worn Niall Tóibín stereotype about Cavan people being frugal (to put it politely)? According to a Google key word search, the most popular thing to Google about Cavan is - where is Cavan? It seems finding out where we are situated is what Cavan has become known for online. Google statistics show that when people google Cavan they don't want to know anything about it, they just want to know where it is. Last month roughly 22,100 people googled 'where is Cavan'. To put things in perspective. Cavan County Council gets googled 2,900 times a month and Cavan hurling 91 times. According to Google word search the most popular thing to learn about Cavan is not about its history or its famous produce but finding out where it is.
