Night Fever at the Imperial

Big hair, big shoes and big performances were the order of the day in week six of Cavan's Got Talent - 1970's theme night. Each act was asked to learn two performance pieces for the show, the themed song chosen for them and the second of their volition. The change in format also welcomed changes to the judging panel. Joan Kenny, daughter of the legendary Billy Barry took Paul Cox's place, who in turn took over from Joe Finnegan as compère for the night. Acts received points scoring from the three judges on both of their performances, with their total tally added to the votes received by the audience at the end of the night. Big performances on the night came from Christy and Mono, Brendan Jermyn, Shannan Laheen and The Standards, while other acts visibly struggled with the major step up in competition. Maya Moranska and the usually strong Harmony suffering badly under the pressure. Expect leathers and lots of hair spray with a planned Rock 'n' Roll theme next week, Friday night at the Imperial Bar. For the Fourth Judge's verdict, see this week's Anglo-Celt.
