Christy and Mono singing Pour Some Sugar on Me.

Family fortunes

Killeshandra brothers Christy and Mono scooped the illustrious title of the fourth Cavan's Got Talent winners on Friday night. The talented duo walked away with the €7,000 top prize having put in a mesmerising performance of Hungry Eyes in front of a packed to the rafters Imperial. Harmony were runners-up, with Cavan Big Band and Brendan Jermyn doing themselves proud on the glitzy night. It was a long and exhausting journey for all the competitors in a talent show that started 11 weeks ago with 17 acts. The event's organisers continued with the same voting system which came in for a lot criticism on the comments page last week, but the Fourth Judge believes the right act won the whole event. "The lads were the most consistent performers through out the last 11 weeks," enthused the mysterious one. "Looking back on the scores I gave them I think 7/10 was the lowest." Organiser Linda O'Reilly was delighted by the standard of acts that participated. "It's not just not just a singing competition, it's Cavan's Got Talent" told the Celt, "the amount of talent we have unearthed over the last few years has been amazing." So good were the performances on Friday night that the Fourth Judge had to be creative in her/his insults this week. Check out this week's Celt newspaper for a lowdown on all the CGT craic.
