'We owe them our lives' - says victim of house fire

A Knocktemple man says that he and his wife owe three brave neighbours their lives after they got them out of their home, which was gutted by fire last week. The three men, Mattie Dowd, PJ Rogers and Andrew Cummings, who all live nearby, were returning home from their local on the night of Wednesday, May 9, at around 1.30am that morning when they spotted flames coming from the back of the dormer bungalow of retired couple Bob and Anne Gilbert's home.
