St Kevin's' Seanie Johnston

Johnston finally gets the all clear

Seanie Johnston has finally been given the 'all clear' to move to Kildare club St Kevin's, meaning the now ex-Cavan forward could play with the Lilywhites in the summer. The GAA's Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) on Friday (May 18) turned down his transfer request to St Kevin's Cavan Gaels. The Johnston saga saw subsequent appeals also rejected but it has now been confirmed that the move was finally allowed last night (Wednesday, May 23). The rules, however, mean that Johnston will have to play a championship game for St Kevin's before he can play for Kildare. St Kevin's, however, do not have a championship game before Kildare meet Offaly on June 17.
