John Joe Nevin meets some young fans in Cavan.

Thousands turn out to greet Nevin in his "second home"

John Joe Nevin has revealed that Cavan "is like a second home" to him. Speaking exclusively to the Celt this evening in Cavan, Nevin paid tribute to his coach Brian McKeown and to the people of Cavan, who came out in their thousands to greet the Olympic silver medallist. Nevin was met by around 300 fans at Cavan BC's gym on the Dublin Road before he paraded through town to the Gig Rig, where an estimated crowd of 4,000 was waiting. "I didn't get any break at all yet but sure listen, you have to keep the people happy and I enjoy keeping the people happy," he smiled. "I have a very good connection with Cavan, I think I have the best coach in the whole of Europe here in Cavan, Brian McKeown. It's a pleasure to come down here and meet all my fans, Cavan is like my second home." As for the future, he was giving nothing away. "I don't know, it hasn't really hit me yet. I'm just enjoying the moment and I'll see where I'll take it from there." See next week's Anglo-Celt for full coverage of John Joe's triumphant homecoming
