Two major education conferences set for Cavan

Senior figures from Apple and Microsoft will visit Ballyconnell next week as the Slieve Russell Hotel hosts two of the most important annual conferences in education. Among the guest speakers at the National Information and Communications Technology Conference on September 11, which explores the use of technological devices in the delivery of education, will be Éanna Ó Brádaigh, head of Apple Education in Ireland and Paul Rellis, managing director with Microsoft Ireland. Both men have played major roles in introducing and providing ICT in Irish schools. Mr Ó Brádaigh recently stated that his company is committed to education and sees iPads as both a substitute and supplement for traditional school books. He believes the iPad can be used as a platform to transform the classroom into an engaging and interactive environment, further stimulating students to learn. The conference, hosted jointly by Cavan and Louth VECs, is considered one of the most important in the calendar as it gives education and training advocates from across Cavan the chance to hear and experience first hand new advances in educational delivery through technology.
