If you can't make it to the Cafe Sessions in person tonight, catch Runaway Go's gig live streamed here on the Celt website.

Runaway Go to this week's cafe sessions

At around 8pm tonight, instead of the endurance test that is Fair City, get over to Chapter 1 for accomplished Belfast five-piece Runaway Go's Cafe Sessions - if you can't make it, not to worry, as it will be live streamed on the Celt website! The band come across like a cross between Warpaint, a good Placebo with a bit of Portishead and maybe even a little of the Frames via John Murphy, too - what I'm trying to say is that they're tough to pin down but good. Check them out on YouTube here and you'll see what I mean - delicate and sophisticated harmonies on one track, only to be followed up by scorching indie guitars and full rock-out choruses.

They're immediately likeable and not in the way Marina and the Diamonds might be immediately likeable (then instantly hateable). Even the blurb that came into Celt Towers this week is likeable: "The (nearly) famous five got together in Belfast a few years back, interested only in writing songs, singing songs, enticing groupies and rifling through the dressing rooms of big bands whilst enjoying the giddy heights of the 'support slot' role at some of Belfast's more salubrious venues. They entered a band competition sponsored by a famous brand of bourbon and proceeded to annihilate the competition, returning from London with a decent shot of cash, a few bottles of grog and an injection of faith in themselves and their collective ability to bring an unfamiliar crowd from 0 to 100 in the space of one 30 minute set." Intelligent and fun, Runaway Go hit the Sessions this Thursday, September 6, at 8pm - oh and it's free in. Live streamed on Cavan TV and Anglo Celt website at http://anglocelt.ie/cafesessions/
