Quinn rally postponed following tragedy

The rally organised by supporters of bankrupt billionaire businessman Sean Quinn, scheduled for Sunday in Ballyconnell, has been postponed as as a mark of respect to the late Brian Og Maguire who died tragically yesterday. However, there has been some good news for the Quinn Family and their supporters with reports suggesting that the family has received a €500,000 donation from an undisclosed source to assist in funding their legal action against the former Anglo Irish Bank, now IBRC. Earlier in the week the group behind organising the Quinn support rally, Concerned Irish Citizens, moved to deny widely circulating rumours that people attending the event this weekend would be called upon to donate to the Quinn legal fund personally. It's estimated that over 5,000 people attended the last rally held in the town towards the end of July and the Concerned Irish Citizens had been hoping for an even larger turnout this time around. But those plans have now been shelved for the meantime with everyone concerned in the organising of the rally focused in their combined grief following the tragic death of 24-year-old Lisnaskea man Maguire. The Quinn family are now representing themselves in a host of legal actions with the IBRC after releasing their legal team, citing the lack of funds to keep them on as the reason, and lambasting the IBRC accusing it of backing the family into such a decision by laying hold to their assets. The Quinns are currently preparing a legal challenge against the bank for alleged fraud, claiming that over €2bn worth of loans provided to them had been unlawfully given because they were used to prop up Anglo's collapsing share price. The IBRC denies this.
