Another 1,000 pay household charge in Cavan
About 1,000 more eligible households in County Cavan have paid the household charge since July. That was revealed at the September meeting of Cavan County Council today as the executive met for the first time since the summer break. To date almost 14,600 householders have paid the charge in County Cavan. However, there are close to 27,000 eligible householders in the county. Cavan County Council is reminding householders this week that the charge currently stands at €116 but on October 1, it increases to €127. The charge replaces funding previously provided by way of grant from central government. It forms a significant element of the budget for local authorities and is used to provide local services that impact on all communities throughout County Cavan. The local authority has warned that failure to pay the charge impacts directly on the level of services provided by the council. Register and pay direct at Cavan County Council, Cashiers' office, Courthouse, Cavan; online at www.householdcharge.ie by credit/debit card or by post to Household Charge, PO Box 12168, Dublin 1 enclosing cheque/postal order and registration form (available from Council Offices & Libraries) or Lo Call 1890-357-357.
