Belturbet fire contained

A fire that engulfed an apartment over a vacant shop unit at Railway Road Belturbet shortly before 8pm on Monday evening, was quickly brought under control by members of Belturbet Fire Brigade. They were promptly joined by two units from Cavan Fire Brigade and the fire was quickly contained within the apartment. Firemen donning specialised breathing apparatus entered the building when the flames had been quenched to ensure that there were no people in the apartment. The scene was preserved overnight by gardai and they are due to carry out a technical examination of the apartment today.
