The Strypes and Sean Quinn Jnr to appear on Late Late tonight

There will be a big Cavan interest on tonight's Late Late Show with Ryan Tubridy as both The Strypes and Sean Quinn Jnr are set to appear... Having cut their teeth on rare R&B tracks and blues standards, The Strypes are set to showcase their own tunes as they play their first original track on The Late Late tonight. The RTE chatshow has marked the band's landmark moments of their meteoric rise with their first appearance on TV, the release of their debut EP Young Gifted & Blue last April, and now the signing of their new management deal. The Strypes signed to Rocket Management promotions - the biggest artist management company in Britain, which already represents major acts like Lily Allen and Ed Sheeran and is owned by Elton John. "They have offices in London, New York and Tokyo, so they can place the band on a global scale," says The Strypes manager, Niall Walsh. "We're still negotiating [a record deal] with all the major labels. With Rocket's help, we're trying to figure out which of those are the best for the boys, but there are offers on the table and they are being considered." In addition, Angus Baskerville from '13 Artists' has been appointed The Strypes' booking agent. Baskerville already has Arctic Monkeys and Radiohead on his books and with an eye on the longer game he plans to have The Strypes play smaller venues as the headline act rather than pursue high profile support slots. "Whenever we get the deal done, we hope to record the album fairly quickly, and we're looking at the early part of New Year to start touring the UK." A number of big names are "in the hat" to produce the album, and they intend to record it 'live' in the studio. "The first album we hope will be a snap shot of the band as it is now - the live act, and will be a mix of originals and old blues standards. That can be done fairly quickly." One of those originals, 'Blue Collar Jane' will be played live on The Late Late this week. It was recorded in Yellow Fish Studios with Chris Difford from Squeeze producing, and Niall says it has a Dr Feelgood sound - and hopefully "the Feelgood factor". "It probably answers the question: can the boys write? We have the original recorded. It's not going to be released yet, but it will probably be one of a few originals on the album." They also look forward to playing RTE's 'Other Voices' music festival in Dingle on Saturday, December 1. "Everybody we mention Other Voices to are incredibly excited about it - apparently it is a great weekend." The Strypes' hectic festive schedule sees them play a host of club gigs in London and squeeze in a support with their new pals Squeeze in the O2 in London on Friday, December 14. Cavan fans can catch them in Dublin's Whelan's on Tuesday, December 18 - tickets from Ticketmaster. Quinn interview Meanwhile, it's understood that Sean Quinn Jnr has pre-recorded an interview with Ryan Tubridy, which will also be aired on tonight's show. It is the first TV interview that Quinn Jnr has given since his release from jail following his incarceration for contempt of court orders. His father Sean Quinn Snr remains in the training unit of Mountjoy Prison where he will stay until early in the New Year unless released on compassionate grounds. Yesterday in the High Court, Sean Quinn Jnr gave "unequivocal" instructions that he wants to purge his contempt of the court orders which led to him serving the three month jail term, his lawyers told the court. Ms Justice Elizabeth Dunne, who jailed Mr Quinn on July 20 last, said this "sounds very promising and hopefully that will turn out to be the case" after being informed of Mr Quinn's intention by Ross Aylward BL. Given the continuing exchange of correspondence between lawyers for Irish Bank Resolution Corporation (IBRC) and the Quinn side, Shane Murphy SC, for the bank, said the sides had agreed the contempt proceedings against Mr Quinn Jnr, his father Sean senior and his cousin Peter Darragh Quinn, could be further adjourned to December 13. Those contempt proceedings arose in the context of the bank's proceedings against the Quinn children and some of their spouses, as well as against Peter Darragh Quinn and several companies, aimed at protecting up to €430m assets in the family's international property group. Mr Murphy said new lawyers had come on record for the Quinn children and some of their spouses but not for Sean Quinn Senior or Peter Darragh Quinn. A warrant remains outstanding for the arrest of Peter Darragh Quinn who continues to live at his home in Northern Ireland outside of the jurisdiction.
