1. Trace the journey of the Titanic

Everyone knows the story of the Titanic, but Belfast is where it all began. You can take a boat tour around the Titanic Quarter in Belfast where you’ll get to see slipway No. 3 up close and personal (the part of the yard where the Titanic first went afloat.) They’ll even take the same route that the boat left Belfast through the Victoria Channel at the same maximum speed of 24 knots that the Titanic could reach. With knowledgeable guides and a chance to track a huge tragedy in history this is a must see during any trip to Belfast.

 

2. Explore Belfast Castle

Placed on the slopes of Cave Hill, Belfast Castle is a whopping 400 feet above sea level and steeped in the history of Belfast. Built in 1870, the castle provides the best views of Belfast and gives you the opportunity to walk the same paths some of the city’s most influential people did way back when. It even has fantastic restaurant so if you get a bit peckish, why not finish the day with a nice romantic meal in the castle grounds?

 

3. Sink a pint at the Crown Liquor Saloon

Finally, no trip to Belfast is complete without a pint of Guinness and there’s no better place to sample this Irish nectar than the ornate, Victorian surroundings of the Crown Liquor Saloon. It’s close to the city centre and does great food. Try the oysters with you pint and you’ll have an afternoon (which soon turns into an evening) to remember.
