Doherty's award winning radio play to air on Sunday

The radio play with which Cavan playwright Philip Doherty won the prestigious PJ O'Connor award - for the second time - will air on RTE Radio 1 on Sunday evening - 8pm.
'A Golden Triangle' is the Gonzo supremo's new work and enabled to him to scoop €5,000 in prize money. It follows his PJ O'Connor award success back in 2006 for his debut play, 'Mysterious Ways' in 2006. Doherty was the youngest playwright to win the PJ O'Connor award.

Here's what the RTE press bumpfh has to say about Philip's show: 'We hear of the accidental intersection of three unlikely folk living in present-day Dublin - a curmudgeonly widower, a ladette in a wheel-chair, and a jobless Pole mauled by the Celtic Tiger in its death-throes - constitutes a curious trinity in a touching thumbnail sketch of disheartenment, desire, and eventual deliverance.'

Gem

A Golden Triangle is just the latest gem added to Doherty's ever growing back-catalogue, which includes 'Fleadh Town', 'The Begrudgers', 'The Circus of Perseverance' and 'The Devil’s Ceili'. The workaholic has plans for a new play to premier at the Life of Reilly Festival this August, and he is currently preparing to present 'The Great Couch Rebellion' in Cavan Town next weekend.
Don't miss 'A Golden Triangle' on RTE Radio 1 on Sunday at 8pm and see the next edition of The Anglo-Celt newspaper for a feature length interview with Philip about what's making him angry!
