The Strypes come home to shoot new music video

Following months of sold out gigs across Europe, and their highly acclaimed Glastonbury slot, The Strypes took a deserved break from gigging and ventured home, but the Cavan fourpiece are finding that there’s no such thing as downtime on their route to conquering the world’s charts.
Always one to seize an opportunity, filmmaker Finn Keenan arranged for The Strypes’ new music video to be shot on location in Cavan and accompanied the lads on their trip.
Arriving home last Sunday, they took the evening to relax and by Monday morning The Strypes were suited, booted, geared up and ready to star in the video for their self penned song ‘What a Shame’.
Speaking exclusively to the Celt about the upcoming video Finn teases: “You can expect to see The Strypes being their usual cool selves with their surroundings being anything but usual.” Intriguing.
Although Finn is based in London he makes no secret of his desire to work in Cavan whenever he can; “It was amazing to be able to come home to shoot the video. The Strypes have been travelling so much recently, so it felt really good to be able to shoot in an environment where their families could come in and share the experience.”
The location for the two day shoot was a warehouse on the outskirts of Cavan Town and the film set was built by local men Joe Doherty, Mike McGovern, Richard Phelan and Paul Farnan. The film crew comprised of talented people from Cavan and Dublin who Finn worked with on the brilliant RTÉ-winning web-comedy The Begrudgers. This created an air of community spirit to the video shoot. “It was great to work with the Cavan/Dublin crew again,” Finn says. “The vibe on set was one of the best I’ve experienced.”
The video is set to hit our screens next week.
‘What a Shame’ will feature on The Strypes’ debut album “Snapshot” which is to be released on September 10.
