Fergal still hopeful for Toy Show gig

An 11-year-old Cavan boy’s email to Ryan Tubridy has become a viral sensation across the country, and could see his Christmas dreams come true. Fergal Smith, from Cavan emailed the Late Late Show presenter with his plea to co-host this year’s toy show.
The tongue-in-cheek letter, which Tubridy himself declared was the email of the year on his radio show, had the country’s hearts melting. Fergal told the television and radio host that he suffers from a disability called “middle child syndrome” and hoped that Ryan “could find a place in your heart to let me co-host the Late Late Toy Show. I would be over the moon. I am not doing it for the money, more for the crack and joy of getting to co-host the Late Late Toy Show with you.”

Hope
Unfortunately Fergal’s plea for his 15 minutes of fame went unanswered, as Tubridy told his listeners that this year’s line-up had already been picked. However this is not stopping Fergal’s followers from hoping he will have a spot on the annual Toy show in the coming weeks, and a Facebook page ‘Fergal for Toy Show’ already has over 3,000 likes.
Fergal’s mother Mairead told the Anglo-Celt: “We haven’t heard anything since but Ryan did say he would probably give him a phonecall this week.”
When asked whether Fergal has a script in place for his possible TV appearance Mairead replied: “There’d be no point in rehearsing or anything like that, it’d be no bother to him. He loves talking to people, he’d just treat Ryan like his uncle.”
The Late Late Toy Show airs on Friday, November 29.
