The bodies of the two missing men were found on Inchicup Island on Lough Sheelin. They had been shot and dumped on the island.

Two arrested in Sheelin double-murder investigation

Gardaí have released a statement saying two men have been arrested as part of an investigation into the murders of Eoin O’Connor and Anthony Keegan. Both males were arrested in the Cavan Town area this morning, June 11, 2014. 

A male in his late 20s is currently detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007, at Kells Garda Station. The second male in his early 30s is detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939 also at Kells Garda Station. The Anglo-Celt understands both men are foreign nationals.

Gardaí commenced a murder investigation following the discovery of the bodies of 32-year-old Eoin O Connor and 33-year-old Anthony Keegan on an island on Lough Sheelin on May 26. Both men, who are from Dublin, had been reported missing on April 22.
