The Strypes with Brendan McCahey at RTÉ.

Cavan takeover late late

Eerie feedback from Josh's guitar lingers for what seems and age, before the drums kick in for the infectious riff of Mystery Man. There follows a blistering two minutes of punk infused R&B.
On Friday night The Strypes were back where it all began - the Late Late Show studio - to promote their forthcoming national tour.
You can sense the Cavan fourpiece are outgrowing their Beatles homage mop-top faze as Josh has ditched the suit for T-Shirt and jeans, while Evan looks like Captain Sensible's wee brother, having cropped the locks and donned his party specs.
'I've got you in the palm of my hand,' sang Ross in his trademark shades, while Pete bopped manically beside him.

The lads' tour will take them to Galway, Sligo, Limerick, Drogheda, Kilkenny, Donegal, Wexford, Belfast, Derry, Sligo and Dublin. Most importantly they play Cavan Town Hall on Thursday and Friday, December 4 and 5. Tickets are priced €19.15 and are on sale from Multisound in Cavan.

The Strypes weren't the only Cavan bands on Friday's show; Shercock's Brendan McCahey showcased his new track, Sweet Love - a lavish Richard Hawley style number with a sumptuous strings arrangement.
