There was great delight and excitement in Arva at the weekend with the news that local lady, Christina Kammerer, was crowned Ms Ireland at the national final in the Greenhills Hotel in Limerick on Saturday night. A delighted Christina told the Celt: “I was so emotional, I could not stop crying.”
Christina has been living in Arva for almost six years and loves the village.
The sequence of events on the night for the contest commenced with an opening round, which included Christina dancing to 'Happy’ by Pharrell Williams in a white dress. Then the contestants made appearances on stage in front of the judges in fashion wear, swim wear and evening wear. As distinct from Miss Ireland, the Ms Ireland pageant is open to single women, over 25 or single mothers of any age.
The pageant, along with the Ms Teen Ireland, Mrs Ireland and Junior Ms Ireland (in which Lavey’s Rebecca Cullivan competed) and Miss Collegiate Ireland pageants are all co-ordinated by Ireland Pageants and Redhead.
The vivacious Christina also scooped the 'Ms Congeniality’ title, as a result of all her co-contestants voting for her as the lady with the warmest personality. She also won the Directors’ choice award.
When she returned home, Christina was joined by all her friends and family for a meal in the Breffni Arms Hotel. She has also been asked to participate in 'Ms Earth’ competition in Jamaica from where she will have the opportunity to go to 'Ms Galaxy’.
