The Ballinagh man who had been missing from his Galway student accommodation was found safe and well last week to the delight of his family.
John Moyles (23) of Ballytrust had been missing from Rahoon, Galway City, from around 7pm on Sunday, July 5. A student in NUIG and musician, the Ballytrust, Ballinagh native’s disappearance has left his family and friends “stunned”.
He was found “safe and well” in Dublin on Tuesday night and his family says they were “delighted with the wonderful news” of his safe return.
Father Gussy Moyles expressed his heartfelt thanks to all who “helped and volunteered in search parties, those who said prayers and had prayer services and to all those, family and friends, who sent their messages of support”.
“It was wonderful, wonderful news,” said a relieved Gussy “we were delighted and it didn’t matter what happened before we were just delighted. It was the best news, well, we’ve had in a long, long time,” he said.
“From myself, my wife Breege, Emmett (son) and Sarah (daughter) we just want to thank everyone who helped out.”
A talented musician and popular student in NUIG, John had been missing from his nearby accommodation at Glendara but had posted a message on Facebook on Monday evening, which saw a huge response from people concerned for his wellbeing and for his worried family.
Gardaí also thanked the public’s assistance in the search for John.
