Sod turned on 40m 400 job plant in monaghan

Combilift directors formally turned the sod on a new €40M purpose-built, 46,000 sq-metre greenfield manufacturing facility on Monday. In attendance were Minister Heather Humphreys, Enterprise Ireland’s Tom Kelly and Eugene Cummins, Monaghan County Council as well as 350 Combilift staff.

The facility is larger than originally announced in February and the expansion will position Combilift to double its current €150 million turnover by 2020 employing an additional 200 staff with a further 200 construction jobs.
Combilift founder Martin McVicar said: “Combilift is delighted to break ground on our new facility, it shows our commitment to manufacturing in Monaghan as well as to the regional economy”.
The majority of the jobs will be for skilled technicians and design engineers. The construction jobs will arrive during the two years it will take to build the facility.

‘Committed to Monaghan’
“With this greenfield investment and sufficient industrial-zoned land available on the new site for future expansion, Combilift are committed to continuing its organic growth in Monaghan for many years to come,” said Mr McVicar.
The company is best known for its wide range of multi-directional forklifts, Aisle-Master articulated forklifts and other innovative material handling solutions such as the Combilift Straddle Carrier, designed to handle large containers and over-sized loads.
