Kingscourt Luke Madden (7) appears in the new Jacob's TV ad for their beloved Kimberley Mikado and Coconut Cream (among others).

Kingscourt child-actor telly debut

A Kingscourt child-actor could be well on the road to stardom after his telly debut last week.
At just seven years of age Luke Madden is probably still getting used to seeing himself on the smaller screen, after his delightful bow in a Jacob’s ad that was screened during the Late Late Show last Friday.
Proud mum Gayle says Luke, who is a member of the Born to Perform stage school in Kingscourt, entered a Facebook appeal looking for a boy to appear in a '70s-themed scene of the advertisement for kids’ favourites like Kimberley Mikado and Coconut Cream.
“It was on a Facebook page where they were looking for boys from seven to eleven and we sent in a picture, which lead to an audition in Dublin and he got it! They were looking for a boy and a girl for the scene,” explains Gayle.
“Luke’s been to a good few auditions but that’s the first one that he’s really got, they’re all thrilled and laughing here - I did think it was really funny when I first saw it,” says a laughing Gayle, who would be a familiar face to locals, working in Pat’s Shop, owned by her father.
In the ad, Luke sits around the table with friends as they enjoy some bikkies and adding a little comedy the Muff NS pupil puts two coconut creams behind his glasses to much cheeky merriment.
Luke, who has an older brother and sister to help him with his new-found fame, was also a voice-over actor of the DVD version of Conan & The Mystical, Magical Light Of Loughcrew by Tina Halpin with illustrations by Lisa Brady and while he says he would like to be famous one day, modestly adds that he doesn’t know if he will. For now he is enjoying the reaction of his family and friends.
