Priorities:

Active in Republican politics for over 25-years, 15 of those as an elected member of Sligo Borough Council, the former chairperson of Sligo Sinn Féin and member of the party’s National Executive has represented the Republican Movement throughout Ireland and abroad.

From a well-known republican family, he is the son of Helen and Sean MacManus and brother of IRA Volunteer Joe MacManus, killed in Fermanagh in 1992, Cllr McManus is recognised as a committed activist.

In his campaign he has prioritised the need for more affordable and social housing as well as the need to tackle the issue of anti-social behaviour within our community.

Amongst Cllr McManus' initiatives as a Councillor has been the setting up of the Cranmore Regeneration Scheme, as well as ensuring that Sligo Borough Council adopted a tough policy in regards to dealing with Anti-Social Behaviour.

He was appointed as Peace 3’s ‘Ambassador’ to the recent Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, is currently Chairperson of the Sligo Joint Policing Committee, sits as Chair of the Borough Council's Cranmore Regeneration Committee and serves as a director of Sligo Airport.

He is one a main spokesperson for Sligo's Right2Water group, and a leading activist during the recent Marriage Equality Referendum.
