Leslie O'Hora

GE2016 Profile: Leslie O'Hora (GP)

Name: Leslie O'Hora

Occupation: Has worked with International, National and start up one man companies throughout Ireland and all over Europe

Marital Status: Married, three children

Priorities:

Living in Carrick-on-Shannon, but whose grandparents came from west Sligo, Mr O'Hora is a founding member of the Good Energy Alliance Ireland, promoting energy Co Op and Solar and was formerly involved in setting-up the Environmental Research Laboratory in Queens University Belfast.

Mr O'Hora feels he has a great understanding of the needs of all types of businesses and loves advising young people to “do their own thing” and provides them with tips and access to his own broad network.

Working in the solar energy sector for many years, with hands-on experience of people’s energy needs in the West and Northwest of Ireland, he feels strongly that the fabric of rural life is under treat and fiercely opposes any undermining of our local community healthcare, policing and communication structures.

While he has been, and continues to be involved in the anti-fracking campaign, Mr O’Hora says that it is not the only issue he is standing on.

Leslie is campaigning for sustainable jobs in Agri food tourism, digital hubs, activity based tourism and renewable clean energy. He also wants to see work opportunities provided across the region and for rural communities to be able to keep their young people at home.
