Counting underway in Cavan Monaghan

Ballot boxes have been opened as the sorting of votes is underway in the Cavan-Monaghan constituency. Two hundred and twenty six boxes have been opened so far.

Count staff are busy at the Cavan Leisure Complex with the first count expected to start just after lunchtime.

Tallymen (and women) from all of the main political parties are hard at work, with tally results expected from mid-morning onwards.

Deputy Caoimghin O Caolain and Senator Kathryn Reilly of Sinn Féin are in the count centre as are other candidates including Independent John Wilson.

The Fine Gael TDs - Joe O'Reilly and Minister Heather Humphreys do not appear to have arrived at the centre yet; neither has Brendan Smith (FF) been spotted.

The Celt will bring you the first tally results as they are in.

We're live until the last seat is filled.
