Ulster Rugby train on new Virginia pitch

By Sean McMahon

These are great times in the life of Virginia Rugby Club with their top quality new pitch coming on stream and to cap it all, the full Ulster Rugby Squad came down to Virginia with their Coaches on today Thursday and did a full training session.

They were all very complimentary of the facilities at the Virginia Rugby Club and were delighted to have the opportunity to train and meet all the supporters afterwards and sing lots of autographs. The Irish Captain Rory Best and Tommy Bowe posed for lots of selfies with young fans and were in great demand to sing boots and rugby balls and t-shirts and jerseys.

The new Virginia pitch will be officially opened on Saturday 27th August by the legendary Willie John McBride, Irish Lion and Irish Captain and as a matter of interest, he also opened the first Virginia pitch back in 1982. “It will be great to have him back 35-years-later to open our new second pitch”, said the President of Virginia Rugby Club, Chris Corrie.
