Slieve Russell Hotel closed following Novovirus outbreak

One of the county's landmark hotels has been forced to shut its doors due to an outbreak of the winter vomiting bug.

The HSE have confirmed today that the Ballyconnell hotel has closed itself to the public, and there is signage at the entrances to the hotels informing people the luxury getaway location will now be “Closed until further notice”.

It follows an increased incidence of Norovirus infection among residents, staff and patrons of the hotel.

The HSE and hotel management deeply regret the inconvenience this closure will cause to patrons of the Slieve Russell but consider this action as necessary to safeguard public health.
