Don't keep cash at home - gardaí

In the lights of recent robberies in the Belturbet and Cavan areas, the Gardaí are urging people not to keep large sums of money in their homes.

They are also appealing for information on a blue Volkswagen Golf car seen in the Belturbet area around the time that a number of burglaries occurred.
Five males were disturbed at a vacant house on the old Butlersbridge road around 8pm on December 6 last. It is believed that they may have made their escape in the blue Golf towards Belturbet. If you saw that car, please contact the gardaí in Cavan.
In the past week, burglaries have been reported at Morrissey Park and the Kilconny area in Belturbet and also at Snugborough in Ballyconnell. Small sums of cash were taken.

Other raids

The Drumbee area of Kilnaleck was also hit in recent times and tools and cash were taken in that raid. Property was also taken from a home during a break-in in the Ballinagh area.

Vehicles stolen

There was a John Deere tractor with a black grab on the front, stolen from a farmyard in the Urcher area of Bailieboro between December 8 and 9. A car was also stolen from the Ballyhaise area in the past couple of weeks.
Anyone with any information in relation to the above incidents can contact Cavan Gardaí in confidence at 04943-68800.
