First peek at Ballyjamesduff MD

Of all the Municipal Districts Ballyjamesduff will probably provide the least drama. Nine candidates are in the race for six seats making it the least crowded of the fields. Even at this early stage it's possible to tell the first three candidates who will consider their seats safe.

Though a good number of boxes are opened the tally men have only got through 47% of the votes in the Ballyjamesduff MD. The picture of the returning candidates in the Ballyjamesduff are is beginning to take shape.

The half way mark suggests that Trevor Smith (FG) is a clear favorite to top the pole. This is his first time to run as he is looking to take the seat his father, Paddy, has held since 2004.

The numbers we present come with the caveat that they are only representative of the boxes processed by the tally staff so far. The fact that they may be skewed by the geographical location of those boxes have to be considered. However they do give a good representation.

The numbers are:

Bennett, Winston: 369

Brady, 'The Gunner' Philip: 454

Connell, Noel: 214

Lovett, Craig: 744

McPhilips, Gráinne: 295

O'Reillly, Shane: 366

O'Reilly, TP: 366

Smith, Trevor: 1,467
